The DTM or Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters is one of the most popular racing series in the world. It is known by fans as “Formula 1 with a roof”. What is worth knowing about the starting season?
The series will certainly be of interest to Polish fans. Robert Kubica will take part in this year’s edition. This is not the first time that a former (or active) F1 driver will compete in the DTM. In the past, such drivers as Mika Hakkinen or Ralf Schumacher competed in German races. In their opinion, DTM cars are a great preparation for the Formula 1 season, increasing the driver’s capabilities.
In the DTM the drivers race heavily modified series production cars, mainly from Germany and Great Britain (with BMW leading the field). The cars are equipped with V8 engines, generating 650 horsepower. The acceleration of these vehicles ranges from 2.5 to even 2 seconds to 100 km/h!
Our best racing driver will drive for BMW Orlen Team Art in a BMW M4 DTM. Kubica will drive in eighteen starts, spread over nine race weekends. The DTM series is currently in crisis (budget cuts at automotive giants due to a coronavirus epidemic have affected teams in the series), but despite this, fans from around the world are waiting for the first race. Tez will start already on August 1!
